Seriously, the iOS maps app is so unreliable. Sometimes it's super fast and sometimes (i.e. whenever I really need it quickly) it lags so bad, doesn't load maps or traffic info, takes forever to get directions, etc, and basically makes me want to throw my iPhone out the window. The maps app needs a serious reliability overhaul.
Also, what is so bad about the iOS notification system? I just hit "Close" if I don't care about a notification at that time.
yep thats what im talkin about. maps take too long to load, or are missing, the search input hangs on me as i input, theres no built-in spoken turn-by-turn, etc.. some of this may be network, but some is iOS.
id much rather have a better maps app than worry about notifications.

Reminds me, must get my old Passat looked at. Needs a service anyway - they can look at the brake failure message i'm getting (probably a sensor as it only happens when cold and turning left!)
Anyway as for the new US model, looks like a bit of the current Polo/Golf styling (EU models anyway - not sure about US versions of them) is going on. Not too sure if I like it, however as I've not got the money and I live on another continent it's not an issue at the moment.

What the crap does the iPod have to do with this? Because the file is compressed down for a portable media player, it will be more subject to being stolen than not ? Fair Play doesn't let you burn DVD's with iTunes Videos, and you are locked to only playing on validated machines!
Yes Production costs for Movies are much higher than music, however selling them digitally via Apple costs them nothing! They don't have to pay for displays, shipping, manufacturing, marketing, or deal with returns.
This is as stupid as Universal Studios wanting to get a $1 for every iPod sold.

Sweet. But, there's more to just piggybacking on your mac's airport connection to make calls. I think more has to be done to make this networking possible.
Yes, I wasn't clear on that. I was envisioning a software stack on the Mac that would help the iPhone make a call, do the NAT-busting, browse the local iTunes store, etc. 802.11n is going to be necessary to reach the far ends of most homes.
I don't know that 802.11n low-power silicon exists yet. There are a couple folks here would would though.

Its only BBC iPlayer and TVcatchup.com. Youtube is better but still glitchy
For iPlayer use iPlayer Grabber (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/29604/iplayer-grabber) which will allow you to directly download the streams that you can later delete. Once you have the file on your drive use the G4 optimized Mplayer I created this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1129727&highlight=) thread to share. Be sure to set the Mplayer preferences the way I show there for best results.
I will look into a tvcatchup solution. Does it use flash? If so then Firefox with the FlashGot extension should do the trick to download them and then use Mplayer like the iPlayer videos.
As for youtube I am shocked you have not heard of Mactubes (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/28608/mactubes). Simply set the player setting in preferences to Quicktime and it will play youtube without even breaking a sweat. The fact that there is no need to go to the site or download the videos first makes it practical and also makes a new user experience without the ads and comments. You can see comments in video info though.

iPhone awesome. locking in an exclusive 2 year deal with cingular...horrible.
iTV great but a bit overpriced or underfeatured i think. i really wanted to buy one, but when i figure i can put another $100 or so on it and get a full fledged mini that will do the same things and more...i just don't see it's value.
name change makes sense to me since noone ever called them Apple Computer anymore anyway. it also shows they are more device focused now.
i was hoping for more than 2 products.

Thank goodness they are updating it. Now lets hope I can stop it turning quoted messages into attachments. I'd love it if they did more with the published calendars too.

Yes it can be done. When you start the poll, check the checkbox that says
Allow multiple choice: Give users the ability to select more than one answer

Yes, dressing like a slut is a freedom in the Western World. This however does not mean it is a good idea. A woman who dresses like a slut is advertising that the best thing about them is their body. I don't know about y'all, but I value more than looks so someone who dresses in such bad taste is clearly a thing to avoid.
On the other hand I go out of my way to help women who act and dress well because it is more conductive to business. Ever tried to conduct a business meeting where a woman shows up dress very promiscuously? Seems I'm the only one who can concentrate in those kinds of settings.
There's a time and a place for everything. Eleven is way too young for a girl to be dressing sluttishly. In this case, it's the parents' who need to be taken to task for allowing their daughter to dress and act they way she did.
Whenever women come in with overly exposed cleavage, too short and too tight skirts, it just makes me laugh. Especially when the sit down with that air of seduction. I'm gay so it's really a waste of their time. However, I've often wondered how things would play out if the roles were reversed and men were allowed to wear chest and butt and crotch hugging clothes with bare legs?
Unless a woman's job is to seduce, the workplace should be exactly that, a place for work and clothing should reflect that.

Offline maps would take away income from the Cellular Providers. Also, putting a GPS in the Touch would take away from iPhone sales.

Offline vector based maps are the norm for Nokia handsets that support Ovi Maps including all their Symbian handsets, some S40 featurephones and forthcoming Windows Phones. You can download entire countries to your phone which is great for using abroad with no data contract needed. Ovi Maps on Symbian^3 is leagues ahead of Google Maps on any platform.
IIRC part of the deal with Microsoft is to supplant Bing with Ovi Maps although that might just be on Nokia branded Windows Phones.

That sounds like a horrible waste of resources. Why don't you just use the native Mac OS X binary? The Intel SMP is in beta but is perfectly stable.
