Apple may have released Xcod 2.4. But it's only for those at the WWDC. I checked Apple's ADC website, and they have it listed, but it redirects you to http://connect.apple.com. I did some more digging, and they only have 2.3 on the site. They might upload it after the WWDC.

That just seems wrong. Something looks fishy here. Do you know if it was just that location?
Not sure if it was just this location, but everyone was complaining. The ipads came in single boxes with ipad and apple care inside, so I assume that it is part of the deal with Apple.

...and 64 bit, and better SIMD processing etc. Recent MacWorld benchmarks show the same clockspeed C2D 28% faster than the CD in iTunes encoding. That sold it to me.

Low end iMac starts at $1549 here in Australia, no further details as the rest hasn't been updated.
The current top model mini is $1249 - looks a bit iffy considering the iMac is faster and has a decent screen as well, $300 doesn't buy a Core 2 Duo and a 17" widescreen, mind you, you lose the Superdrive, bluetooth and the remote...
A top end mini and a $300 LCD is probably better value but I have yet to see the price of the 17" dedicated graphics model.

It's a combination of things, but all pointing to the same fact. There's virtually no competition in the Mac marketplace. Competition is what drives innovation. It's what makes Intel and AMD keep cranking out faster chips. There is no such competition in the Mac marketplace. Until there is, we're going to be stuck with slow(er), more expensive hardware. And Apple is still going to be percieved as a miniscule presence.
I think Steve Jobs is a good showman, but I don't think he's a very good CEO. Apple needs an enterprise strategy. A results-oriented approach to getting business done, and integrating data across multiple platforms and industries. They need to gain wider acceptence of the Mac platform to create competition and development. That's the only way Apple is going to succeed as a company.
Lou Gerstner (who is by far one of the most brilliant business men of our age, next to Billiam Gates) said in 1999; the days of the personal computer are numbered and dwindling. Business, education, and home usage are all moving to web-centered resources: allowing integration and data unity across the board. Without an enterprise strategy, Apple won't survive. Again, you've made some good points, Nipsy. But you're so childish in the way you present your replies, with stupid and pointless remarks about things that i haven't addressed and wouldn't care to address, that i'm not about to take you seriously.

I never suggested that the only way for Apple to survive is purely chip speed, i suggested that that is a major part of it and to say it isn't is moronic.
In the end, Nispy, we have agreed on many points and if this whole argument had gone a little better, without petty, childish insults on your part, which i'm ashamed to say that i have contributed to in this last post, and complete missunderstandings of my posts, we could have come to some kind of constructive conclusion. Apple will either buy out a current player in the wireless sector, or will slowly deploy their own network, slowly integrating existing products into it... convergence.
Its not going to be a few Billion. Its going to be a lot more and require a huge huge expansion of their business because its a new game. Its not like making an iPod, its about entering a very competitive environment by buying an existing telco. One that I think they cant even use the current iPhone with and we have seen nothing new at the FCC.
I think its clear Apple aren't going this way because there unique business model is to take a share of the profits.

it seems that there is no longer an option for the "matte" screen, only the glossy one.

two thoughts on this
1. hopefully they are not automatic and you have the option of downloading... could make jailbreaks a mess, but i bet if they are auto updates, someone in the jb community will release a tweak in cydia that stops it from automatically downloading the latest firmware.
2. If this is really going to happen, apple is going to have to stop releasing the entire OS as an update... the "location bug" update today was around 1gb.... will be atrocious to download OTA... also better not go against data usage for the poor people who are on capped data plans.

Its probably not very useful to many, if any around here, but you would be surprised how many people never update their phones through the computer. A lot of people never plug the phone back into their computer once it's set up. OTA updates would help these people ensure their devices are more secure and that they are running the most up to date software.

Sweet! I have a shortage of my favorite Beatles songs on my iPod. Most of my Beatles CDs had at least one scratch that prevented proper ripping into iTunes.
Apple, you have that fixed in iTunes yet? I'd like to see the Cancel button actually work and also the ability to selectively rip or bypass any one song I want to on my disk.

No, I'm saying this completely fake but probable guy isn't doing well enough with his full time job (which is as a graphic artist), so he's doing a little freelance work to get to a point where he can afford his various monthly payments. It's a break even thing, and there's not much left over, if any... theoretically.
And this fake and completely improbable guy scenario can't ask his boss to use the legally licensed copy at work after hours or just use an older version version ? Or can't do without the FULL CS suite and just buy the portions he needs ? Or... just use another tool than Adobe's that is cheaper ?
No seriously, not an excuse or valid scenario. A freelancer would find a way if he's motivated enough.
