Too bad about the box and packing. That about doubles the value since most people recycled/trashed all of that long ago.

The display might be worth something, depending what model it is. The 2005WFP screen is particularly desirable as a quality panel that isn't available any more.
[EDIT] Your screen isn't one of those. A model number on the screen would be good. You are also going to need to look up the video card, the OS installed, (and whether it comes with discs) and the rest of the specs, so that you can describe your item accurately.

The Pentium machine (non-dual core) with 80 GB HD is sadly worth no more than $200 - $300, as new dualcore machines with warranties, 250 GB drives and 2 GB RAM regularly go on sale for $350. Dell sells refurbished off-lease and open box machines with warranty at http://www.dfsdirectsales.com/, which will provide a benchmark.

$293.00 3421148 DIMENSION 3000 INTEL PENTIUM IV 3.0 GHz WINDOWS XP PRO 80 GB

Figure out the size of the box and the weight, and go to USPS and UPS websites to calculate the shipping. It will depend on where its going, obviously. Figure on $35 - $60 shipping. You're probably best to sell it local through Craigslist or your local used classified sites.

I'm thinking about standing in line after seeing the shipping options online. When I called yesterday, I was told that you could expedite shipping - not true. Going for the white wi-fi + 3G 64GB on Verizon if no contract.

Funny had this same issue yesterday morning called apple and the tech was apparently talking to iTunes support over instant message and they kept telling him that I wasn't putting in my password correctly. The guy's supervisor ended up replicating what i was doing and it didnt work for him as well and still the iTunes support person said it was me somehow which was funny cause the tech on the phone just kept apologizing since he knew it wasn't me.
Finally after about an hour they said just what was mentioned here to log out and log back in. That was it. So simple.

Yeah, when I emailed Apple support all they said was reset the password, which wasn't working! So thankful for this forum!

I have a wireless router supplied by Verizon for our FiOS TV/Internet package. I also have an old 802.11g Airport Extreme Base Station (the "flying saucer" model from 2005) connected to it via an Ethernet cable and configured as a bridge so I can run an Apple network. I also have an 802.11g Airport Express from 2005 in another area of the house to extend wireless coverage, and to stream Airtunes to our home theater system. There are two Macs on the network, both running OS 10.6.7.

Every so often over the past year, I'd notice that the light on the AE would be orange. I'd unplug and replug the AE, and the light would go back to green. I don't know what if any effect this had on our wireless network. Our Macs, iPhones, and iPads worked fine. Airtunes was spotty, sometimes working well, and sometimes dropping out. We also have a Sony wireless Blu-Ray player that streams Pandora, and it's been more reliable than Airplay, but it occasionally drops out, requiring reconnecting to the network.

Last week, the Apple network starting dropping out on a daily basis. Our Macs automatically default to the Verizon wireless router, but our iPhones and iPads don't. Sometimes I can reconnect to the Apple network, but sometimes the devices won't recognize the network password. When the latter happens, unplugging and re-plugging the AEBS restores the network.

Today, while troubleshooting, I noticed that the AE didn't appear in Airport Utility, even though the light was solid green. I connected it to my Mac via an Ethernet cable, and it appeared in Airport Utility. When I tried to check the settings, it asked for the password, but the password I remembered didn't work. So I did a hard reset on the AE to reconfigure it. I configured it to join my existing network, and to extend network coverage. I got a message saying that it was updated successfully, and to wait for it to restart. It never restarted; the orange light remained flashing, and Airport Utility gave an error message saying the AE didn't restart. I've tried the hard reset several times. When the AE first appears in Airport Utility, it says it's configured as a base station on its own network. When I go through the reconfiguration routine, it says that the update was successful, but the AE never restarts, and the light stays in flashing orange mode.

I don't know if I have multiple problems. Could I have a defective AE? If so, could it have been causing the Apple network to drop out? Now that I've unplugged it, signal strength is lower in the rest of the house, just as it was before I bought the AE in 2005. The network hasn't dropped out, but it's only been a few hours.

Could I have a defective AEBS? My MacBook Pro is right next to my AEBS, and it has full bars. However, I'm holding my iPhone 4 right next to my AEBS, and wireless strength is only 2 bars. If I move 5 feet away, bars go to full. Once I get to the other side of the house, it drops back to 2 bars. Airport Utility says that the AEBS is fine, though.

To my knowledge, I don't have any other devices that could be interfering with airport, but my next-door neighbor might. I'm going to try switching to a different wireless channel, but interference wouldn't explain why my AE won't restart.

Finally, if I do determine that my AE is bad, is it worth upgrading my AEBS to the current version? In other words, is 80211n (which our newer Macs support) less subject to dropouts than 802.11g, or does it just offer faster throughput?

flash is very powerful and robust. just about every computer on the internet has flash player of some sort and a simple audio piece could be done in a very early version of flash to ensure everyone can use it.

Had the Pinlo Bladedge and I'd say the front and back screen protectors were top notch..

No bubbles and clarity was excellent.. In fact, I reckon its cut fits the home button and earpiece notch more precisely than PS crystal..

Airshot looks to be something sending video over 802.11b. Evidently, Macs are not supported.

To that end, just get a good projector with a DVI port, and a Mac-friendly presentation clicker so you don't have to stand by your Powerbook.

I thought it would be interesting for everyone to post the single (or two) web site they believe is their best work (in design, coding, etc.). That way everyone could see the scope of web design on the board. :)

I don't really have one to post, as I am really limited in my web design knowledge and have only designed (fully) about 5 sites. The past 2 years have found me in a rut and I have no idea where to go from here (or how to accomplish my goals). I am working for two companies on online projects, but nothing involving design. Unfortunately, my skills are limited to HTML, some CSS, and simple graphic work. I am trying to learn Flash and finding it daunting -- I have no idea where to begin. I find I cannot put the designs I have in my head into reality because of my lack of skills. But I am learning!

I have to say that in the past I have been very unimpressed with the quality of the software this company produces. Buggy and unreliable. Not the sort of thing you want in this type of software at all.

Look at this crazy level hack someone made for the original Mario Brothers! It was a link from Digg Videos, and it's quite long, but it is the most ridiculously hard level I've ever seen in my life.

    Just watch.

I'm thinking part of it is a validation issue. You have problems both on the main page that declares the frames, and in the page where the frame leads to.

    Use this validator. (http://validator.w3.org/)

Also, what I provided was slightly different than what you have. You don't have the ending /, which might make a difference. I've honestly never used the base tag so can't speak to it much.

Mac OS X 10.6. is 64-bit, but it has two kernels, and the 64-bit kernel only loads when you set it to or on the Xserve as far as I know.
The 32-bit kernel, loaded standardly, will not limit your overall RAM usage, as many Macs can support more than 2GB RAM nowadays, despite a 32-bit kernel.
Take a look at the KIND column in Activity Monitor.

For example: I have 10.6, load the 32-bit kernel and many of my 64-bit applications can take up 3GB RAM, and would even more if I had more than 4GB.

The dvd does not lose quality with my ripping program (RipIt). It loses quality once I convert it using handbrake

That is to be expected. Maybe use one of the Apple TV presets or play around with the "RF" setting: https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/CRFGuide

I have been battling in my mind as to which Mac to get. Portability would be nice (aka powerbook), but it comes at a hefty cost. My major in college is Media Arts and Design and I will be doing a lot of digital video stuff. They recommend you to have a mac and Final Cut Pro. Would an iMac G5 be good for this? How are the innards different than the powerbook or powermac?

Please only post if you know what you are saying...ie no "well I don't see why the iMac wouldn't be fine for you" blah blah.. Thanks in advance :)

First off you get a G5. The Apple trainers often use g4 17" PBs, but they are not as nice as using a g5. Secondary, you can get more screen real estate. I'll let somebody comment about backside cache's etc, but if you are really going to get into editing, I really would max the memory, get at least one secondary drive, and then get the best computer I could afford. I have used (an own) FCP on a 12" 1ghz PB, and it's doable, but it's so slow and small when compared to a G5 iMac, or tower with twin LCD's.

Here's the question, if you had a desktop computer, would a cheap 300$ G3 iBook meet the marjority of you portable computer needs for a few years? If so, then I would go for the iMac and get an elchepo iBook for takeing notes and writing papers. If not, then get the best PB you can. Also, don't froget you will need at least one external firewire drive, Apple's creative suite, memory, and (if your portable) AppleCare, a spare battery, and a case.
