Isn't it ironic - Silverlight, MS's alternative to Flash, is better in Safari than Flash is.
How is that ironic (Miss Morissette)?

Good developers dislike regulation, but in the case of apps, I think its needed. Without regulation, I can just go and make some crap app (that wouldn't work) put a $0.99 price and hope for 20-40 fools a month to accidently buy it. Repeat this step probably 100s of times with clueless "developers" who don't know what they are doing. Regulation at least guarantees the app works, although the functionality and usefulness of the app is up for judgement by the end user.

Hey everyone, I'd just thought you'd like to know that I'm loaded too. I have 901 shares of Apple....and I would have lost close to $18000 last week when the stock dropped, but fortunately it's only 5% of my portfolio. That and some prescient shorting mitigated my downside risk. So yeah, how about that new MacPro?

until you sell. It's just a value.

How about a Memron Nano. It has a 3 second battery life, but during those three seconds it is one amazing MP3 player :p

Ummm you guys do realize my post with the Sony picture was to emphasize that no one has done it right...yet. Right? Sony's e-book reader sucks. They all do.
Hence the desire for Apple to pull an iPod on the market.

My 27" iMac has arrived! It replaces a 15" MacBook Pro. I am loving it so far. It's only been about 2.5 hours so far still getting everything moved back over and setting things up to my liking (hence the external hd in the back left).

I am thinking about just giving this wireless keyboard over to the iPad, since I have the wired version with numeric keypad sitting outside of the shot. I also want to get a Magic Trackpad, as this Magic Mouse is the devil.

Oh yes, and I am using a small cutting board as a mousepad! It works well. The 17" SyncMaster to the right is a holdover from my old Power Mac G4 I had for years (still works but has been put to rest). It's fine for what I need it for, mainly extra auxiliary space for iTunes, Bridge, etc. Creature Speakers still going strong after all these years too.

Desk is a bit devoid of personality at the moment because I wanted a clean slate for when this beast arrived. Will add things back in the next week or so.

Here's one more. Having grown up there, I'm quite familiar with the place as well. I should see it as a challenge but the familiarity makes it a difficult place for me to photograph.

    http://blog.darinrogers.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/MG_9072.jpg (http://blog.darinrogers.net/blog/)

I like the black and white, it works well with the reflections. I know what you mean about the familiarity making it hard to tackle the subject matter, since I live about 20 miles north of Newport. Sometimes I have to just challenge myself to try to see it with a fresh eye, since it's a bit hard to travel at the moment due to current obligations beyond my control...
Ironically, I was just looking at your food shots on FB before I visited this page, didn't make the connection that you were the same person until I noticed your watermark here. Nice. They made me hungry. :)

May I be the first to say: Where's our desktop?

I assume you mean headless tower since all the iMacs and the MAC Mini are desktops......... Oh wait, isn't the MAC Pro a headless tower?

Good: Notebook is only 30 C
Bad: Fan blasting @ 6KRPM (really unnecessary, can't even use this in class without disturbing the rest of the people in there)
Your fans always blast at 6Krpm? That doesn't sound right. Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

This is almost Microsoft-like: at what point does the public simply become so sick of badly written software from an arrogant company that historically captured a large market share and is now doing everything possible to stifle innovation that it simply moves on?

Sad part is, as adoption increases...so will viruses/malware/trojans/etc.

    Best analogy Ive heard is:

Windows 7 is a house with bars on the windows, and industrial locks on the doors...in Baltimore.

OSX is a house with no locks, in the middle of nowhere.

You haven't been to Baltimore lately!
Middle of Nowhere is just south of the interstate and is beautiful.

News flash, Macs are popular and plentiful and still have no Viruses.
Don't you worry about the future. It will get here and it will be fine.

Windows users, be afraid, be very afraid.

..hmm... as many of you know .mac has really been struggling in the past few months.

    Prediction:

Steve will announce an all new .mac service, with web based applications reserved solely for .mac members. Also a new feature will be the ability to store videos on your .mac which can be streamed to your iphone and AppleTV 2.

    j.

    These would be nice.

Also direct machine to machine syncing, synching to iphone/touch would be very nice.

How cool would it be if apple released a 10th anniversary edition ipod classic that was 320gb (double current) and also came with a cable that could attach to an ipad and the ipod would act as a media drive to play music and movies off of.

I don't know that I would call it feminized, but it certainly seems bratty and petulant. Sell them everywhere! Someone mentioned Starbucks and 7-11... and while they were being douchenozzles about it, I say those sound like great ideas. I don't care if they sell them at hot dog carts in the park... the more places that sell them and the more people that see them the better. When you limit an item to boutique stores, the items get a stigma of being posh and elitist... that is NOT how you move tons of product.

The Commodore 64 was also a revolutionary product that was priced exceptionally well and far ahead of its time. As soon as Commodore moved this product into Toys R Us, Kmart, etc. it became a toy. If Costo, Sam's Club and Walmart were around back then, I'm sure we would have seen them there as well.

Apple is making this move to combat Android market share. Android devices are largely sold through cellular operators, so for Apple to open the flood gates at a number of large consumer retailers is a sign that Apple is getting more aggressive about increasing iOS market share in places where Android has no presence. Without a viable Android competitor in the tablet space, all of those analysts are going to have to start revising their market share charts soon.

Hi, I just bought an iPad 2 and am having trouble installing the latest version of iOS. Also, I'm having a 3G connection issue with the Verizon network and I think there may be some light bleed on the LCD panel. Can you help me?

A couple years ago, 4G meant LTE. Now it means HSPA+. I have no doubt that the next iPhone will be 4G capable, but it won't be LTE. I doubt that delaying the typical launch would have anything to do with including 4G.

Ummm.... I was of the impression that in a couple of markets People tried to promote HSPA+ as 4G and got smacked. Pretty much 4G must be a true 4G tech like LTE to use the name.

Hey I can see 4G/LTE as something Apple will want to get on early. I mean it's a big fat pipe technology. So no more one pipe for digital voice one for digital data.

Apple is copying android!? /sarcasm

I am sure you will have the option to download over wifi or over 3g(if they establish a patch system)

Android has been doing this since the beginning, no issues with it in the android community.
