Squaretrade is more like insurance. The value of the policy is the amount of total repair costs you can incur. If you reach that limit you dont have any coverage.
With Apple you can have repairs done under warranty for the entire period (no spending limit).
For something like the MBA with likely high repair costs...I am not convinced Squaretrade is the best way to go.

Are there any other options besides a $99 software? That's a little pricey for my budget.

Hello, I was wondering if using an external Bluetooth gps antennae would work with ios4. Is there an API that would allow app devs to implement this? I know this works on a jailbroken iPod but I'm not sure if I want to do that.

Really? I thought that applied to all Apple products apart from the iPhone, at least that's what my local store (in Shanghai) told me.

You just need to insert your Snow Leopard install disc to install the drivers for your hardware. Everything should be groovy after you do that.
This should work, but I have not done it without running the bootcamp assistant

I don't believe ftp is supported in safari, but last time I tried it I received the login dialog and after it was accepted, there was a new disk drive on my desktop. I think I was able to put files but not get files through the finder.
FTP IS supported in Safari, kinda. What it does is mounts its to your desktop just like a shared folder or network connection. It's pretty spiffy. Might want to make sure if you are passive FTP or not. That may make a diff on your server.

Hi all,
I HAVE searched and have found that I like "The Mouse BT"'s look and size the best. I really like the design. However, I have some questions. I have looked back and have seen comments on this mouse itself but some are a bit older than I'd like.
1) Any good/bad experiences with MacMice's The Mouse BT?
2) Does it affect the Airport connection at all?
3) Is it small?
I have this mouse/keyboard now: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=310-4170&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=5840&first=true&page=productlisting.aspx
and when I get my mac, I don't want an eensy bitsy mouse, hehe.
Anyways, sorry if this is a repetitive topic.. and thanks.

My immediate gut-instinct would be to create a singleton class at the Application level with class methods for using and accessing its features.
Since it's a singleton class I would try to implement lazy loading. It would only load the data upon first call or after having dumped the data due to a memory warning.

So I am trying to make this machinima, you know where you record something on the screen and then add audio, my question is, has anyone done this and what is the best workflow? Should you record the sound first and the record the video with the sound or record the footage and then add the sound or try to do them simultaneously. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Thanks

So I've searched and have failed to find a simple solution here.
I've tried the redsnow method with 4.2.6 but Cydia opens up then crashes instantly. I've tried 5 times and had to restore every time.
Is there another method on the way or present already?!?! Thanks!

Anyone know how to get the best quality feed from my Mac's Nvidia GT120 into a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card in a PC?
Just adapting DVI > HDMI and going into the Blackmagic's HDMI in does not work because the Blackmagic apparently only supports "broadcast resolutions" (I called them and asked).
What's the best way to split a feed out of my Mac that is either a broadcast resolution or the best way to convert a computer resolution (much more than broadcast) to one that can go into the Intensity Pro?

I purchased a case like this on Amazon for an iPod Touch 4. It works really well considering the price. The buttons and such take a bit of getting used to, but I think that has to do with the overall design of the iPod and the buttons being towards the back side of the device. It has been holding up well so far and seems to do the job. I doubt it would have much drop protection or anything like that, but it definitely is good for anything else.
I planned on buying it until I could find a better case, and I think that is definitely the game plan still. It is decent, but I just haven't found the right case yet. This will do for now.

Just a note, it is eligible for Prime, so 2-day shipping is available if you're looking for a faster than eBay option.

When I type in Safari or Atomic or even click links there is about a 1 second delay, which is huge. Is this happening to anyone else? It started a few weeks ago and the update didn't help.

I'm new to the JB world and so far I'm loving it on my iPhone for MiWi tethering, LockInfo, and themes.
However, I cannot think of a reason to JB my iPad as well besides themes. I figured I'd ask you pros your JB functions you use daily for your iPad.
Thanks ahead of time :)

Customization, using my iPad as a forensic research tool, the SNES app where my iPad is the SNES and my iPhone is the controller is pretty bad ass. :)

So i received a broken mac from a coworker. It is a black macbook running at 2.4ghz intel core duo 2, with 2 gigs of ram, etc. He had originally brought the mac to the apple store reporting that it was not turning on. They said that their might be water damage and he shouldn't bother trying to fix this. Months later when i get the laptop, it completely turns on and is full functional for the most part. The Optical drive, hard drive, screen, speakers work and the computer turns on via connected to the power adapter. However the connection leading towards charging the battery and receiving a charge from the battery does not work. He gave me the computer with both batteries, one which came from the original purchase and one that he bought recently just a few months ago. So the problem is not only are both batteries not receiving a charge or powering the laptop but they both are fully dead. I confirmed this because i have a fully functional white macbook and tried its battery in the black macbook and also tried charging the black batteries via the white macbook.
What can possibly be wrong with the black macbook charging? Do i need to get a whole logic board or is their something localized i can do?

Inklet (http://tenonedesign.com/inklet.php) is a program that will turn your trackpad into a tablet so it works like the screen of an iphone/ipad. It works well and is not very expensive. There is a trial version so you can see if works for you. I use a capacitive stylus with Inklet and Autograph (http://tenonedesign.com/autograph.php) (by same company) with my macbook and macbook air.

Hi,
I have a VPN connection from Strong VPN set up on a Mac Mini.
I would like to specify that Boxee uses this connection, but no other traffic from or to my computer should use it.
Is this possible?
Sincerely,
Aslak Ege

I had the same issue regarding vpc image size. The vpc image does not decrease in size even after you delete files or uninstall programs. The vpc image only grows in size it does not dynamically get smaller.
You will need to manually reduce the size of the vpc image with this procedure:
This procedure is for Windows 95, 98, NT 4, and 2000 guest operating systems.
Be sure to backup any important data before beginning procedure, as this directly changes the guest image contents.
1. Defragment the guest OS hard drive.
2. Backup any critical data in the guest OS.
3. Download Eraser, (http://www.tolvanen.com/eraser/) and install it in the guest OS.
4. Run Eraser in the guest OS.
5. Select Edit->Preferences->Erasing
6. Select "Unused Disk Space"
7. Select "New"
8. Enter the description "Blank"
9. Select Add
10. Create a 3-byte pattern of zeros. On the "Custom Method Editor" window, near the bottom you'll see "Pattern" and underneath that, will be "Byte 1" (with 8 zeros), then "Byte 2" with a checkbox by it, and a greyed out "Byte 3". When you check the "Byte 2" box, the "Byte 3" will no longer be greyed out and you can then check it, thus creating a 3 byte pattern of zeros.
11. Hit Save
12. Select "Blank" under "Unused disk space"
13. Hit Ok
14. Select File->New Task
15. Select "Unused space on drive"
16. Select Local Hard Drives
17. Hit OK
18. Select Task->run on the previously created task
19. When finished, close the report
20. Exit Eraser and shutdown the guest PC. Make sure the guest is not in a saved state.
21. Use Virtual Disk Assistant on the Mac to reclaim lost space. Pressing "command+d" will start Virtual Disk Assistant.
22. Select Examine or modify existing disk image, and click the right arrow to continue.
23. Click Select Disk and browse to the location of the disk image to compact. Generally, this will be the Virtual PC 4 folder.
24. Double-click the disk image and click the right arrow to continue.
25. Select Reclaim zeroed drive space and click the right arrow to continue.
26. Click Reclaim Space.
Hope this helps.

Just got a new iphone 4 here and I think the earpiece speaker isn't working. As I have no SIM for it I am using the Voice Memos app which has a replay option for the earpiece speaker or the bottom loud speaker.
Could someone verify that the iphone 4 voice memo app on 4.3.2 will play on both the earpiece and the bottom speaker? It works that way on my 3gs and acts like that on the 4 but I just don't hear anything on the 4, the proximity sensor does blank the screen when trying though.
I got the phone off ebay and apple shows that it is under warranty still, think they will swap it even though I am not the original owner?
