A friend of mine (from India) got his GC approval notice on 6/3. Here are the details:
LC PD - April 12 2003.
I-485 RD - June, 07, ND - July 16th 2007.
Filing Center - NSC
Received RFE 5/14/08.
Submitted reply 5/30. USCIS ack 5/31. Soft update again on 6/02.
6/03 received email about card production ordered.
Congrats to all those lucky souls.

While we are trying our best to fix a broken system and brace ourselves, lets take a look at what is happening in other parts of the world.

Opportunities will be on the rise with strengthening the currency.
Lets run this thread for sharing views, opinions, experiences and anything related to the EU
Maybe there are better laws there. But the people there are not fundamentally different. So I expect to have to face many of the same problems we are facing here. I have heard of a lot of anti-immigration sentiment and even laws in Europe.
After all it is White Americans who emigrated from Europe who are the majority here. And we are facing the most fierce resistance from them here. What do you expect of those who are native, not immigrants or of immigrant decent.
When they need you, they make it easy for you to move there to work for them. When they don't need you, they can kick you out or make life so miserable for you that you don't want to live there any more.
Just think of what the Germans did to Jews in WWII. WWII seems like a distant memory to us. But "there is nothing new under the sun". People are still people. Their genes have not been significantly modified. They will still have the same thoughts and emotion. Only those who are better educated can be somewhat different. But educated people are never in control of their societies.
I feel that the oppression from White Americans in America is enough for me to bare already. I don't want to risk moving into White people's native territory unless it is just temporary.

Dear All,
I have applied for L1 B extension and the Status is Pending Petition Filing with my Company. My visa Expires by Dec 14th 2009 and i have to travel back to India by Dec 18th 2009 immediately due to personal emergency.
I dont have any acknowledgement till date for the extension as it is under process.
Following are my question
1) Will i have any issues when i return to india after 4 days of my visa expiration?Will it anyway affect my future visa petitions?
2) If the extension is filed, Is there any chances for the extension getting approved even if am not here unless there is no RFE.
Your answers would greatly help me. Thanks

My Indian company B asked to get fresh L1 , so I took a stamping on
Aug'20 2008 and came to US on L1
changed company A with H1 visa . (company A did not do any COS again, since they say H1 is already with COS).
Want to know if my H1 is valid do I need to do any other things to
tell USCIS that I am on H1 NOW. Can I do stamping at Mexico/Cuba.

I am in for this. Is this something that can be a planned effort rather than a impulsive exercise?
I think we should -
1) Wait till this session of the Congress gets over.
2) Form a work group that will chalk out the plan (of efforts).
3) Execute the planned efforts.
Efforts could include things like -
1) Discussing the proposal with supporting Senators like Zoe Lofgren.
2) Making conscious efforts to publicize our woes and genuine issues / conditions.
3) Quantify the benefits of our presence - in evidence of a quantified evidence, idiots like Loo Dog, etc. can't refute that much.
4) Talk to organizations like Lazaras (or some org.) form a more cosmopolitan group including Chinese and others as well.
5) Letter campaign in mass to all Congressmen's offices telling them the sad story about waiting for 8-10 years.
6) Any other efforts that CORE comes up with.
Planned & focused efforts always yield desired results... I believe so.

But on (2), what if we already have an A# from our approved I-140? Is there any other way to know that our application has been accepted??
Actually receiving the I-485 RN implies no rejection, only RFE, that is what the service representative told me about.

They could have set it to March 2005 and it would have been enough to exhaust the remaining EB2-ROW visas left considering the number of EB2 India applicants in the backlog. The fact is that there are not enough EB2 China applicants left in 2003/2004/2005. The only way they can get a fair share of the EB2-ROW spillover was if PD's for both EB2 India and China were moved to 2006.

I'm willing to send this to all the congressman/senators in Texas. Since I'm new to this game, is email better or snail mail? Or is personal contact expected?

Contacting personally is the best. You may not always get a chance to meet the congressman. But atleast get an appointment with an aide who deals with immigration. Some of them would have offices in several towns. Choose the one close to you. Meet in person and explain the situation and give them the letter. Do not go in a big group. 1 or 2 members would be ideal. Lot of the congressman may not know much about the process. so you need to keep it simple with less technical terms.

Maybe no banners or signs because this is a town-hall style meeting and not a rally. I'll let you know if its ok to do that.
But surely, it would be good if you bring a sign/banner saying "www.immigrationvoice.org" which would help us get more coverage is its caught by the media.
